چکیده
Abstract Background Water pollution with heavy metals is a severe dilemma that concerns the whole world related to its risk natural ecosystems and human health. The main objective was evaluate removal efficiency of Cd various concentrations from contaminated aqueous solution by use two cyanobacterial strains ( Nostoc muscorum Trichormus variabilis ). For this purpose, specially designed laboratory pilot-scale experiment conducted using these on four different initial (0, 0.5, 1.0 2.0 mg L ?1 ) for 21 days. Results N. more efficient than T. removing (II), optimum value residual 0.033 achieved after days concentration 0.5 , translating 93.4%, while (II) under same conditions 0.054 (89.13% efficiency). Algal growth parameters photosynthetic pigments were estimated both throughout incubation period. Conclusions High had toxic impact algal growth. outcomes study will help produce treated water could be reused in agrarian activities.

A proposal for the unification of two cyanobacterial strains of Nostoc as the same species
The present research aimed to investigate through a polyphasic approach, the differences in morphological and genotypic features of two cyanobacterial strains isolated from paddy fields of northern parts of Iran, belonging to the family Nostocaceae (subsect. IV. I). Based on the reliable identification keys, the two strains were identified as Nostoc ellipsosporum (Desm.) Rabenh. ex Born. et Fla...

The potential of microalgae for steroid transformation has been studied less than other microorganisms. They have been applied for the years in the treatment of environmental pollutions and preparation of nutrients. At the first time, Abul-Hajj and Qian indicated the conversion of androstendione (AD) to testosterone with eleven different strains of microalgae. Previtera’s group showed the trans...

Rice fields of Meghalaya especially in the coal mining belt receive water contaminated by effluents from mines that are known to carry harmful heavy metal ions such as Cu, Fe, Zn, Ni, Cd, As, Pb, Cr, etc. Cd exposure was analyzed in the cyanobacterium Nostoc muscorum Meg 1 isolated from a contaminated rice field in Sohra, Meghalaya, India. Toxicity study established 0.5 ppm on day 3 to be the L...
